About Sarah

Alongside my approximately 6000 hours of clinical experience with adults, I particularly enjoy working with teens and young adults and have over 2000 hours of experience with teenagers and young people aged 13 to 25. I am experienced and competent in working with severe mental ill-health and have a particular interest in neurodivergence, eating disorders and life transitions.

I also work with couples, qualifying with a Certificate in Couples Counselling from Relational Change in 2015.

Before qualifying as a psychotherapist, I worked in the fields of domestic abuse, homelessness, mental ill-health and substance misuse. I managed a very successful voluntary sector service for people aged 16+ who were homeless and had both substance misuse and mental health needs. I carried out this role with passion and to this day remain passionate about access to mental health services for those who may otherwise find them difficult to access. For further information about this, please see my FAQ section.

If you are keen to hear more about me and the way I work, please feel free to listen to my podcast on this link.

I love being outdoors, exercising, spending time with friends, and I have an undergraduate degree in music and a deep love for singing! My two young children, one of whom is neurodiverse, are the gift that followed years of fertility treatment, showing me the meaning of resilience and filling me with life and joy every day.

Therapy is a challenging and powerful process; an emotional experience where you can explore yourself in depth and discover the courage and resilience you do not know you possess. If you are willing for the journey, it would be my honour to hear from you.

Those of you who are qualified or training counsellors or psychotherapists either looking for a training therapy or for supervision are also welcome here; I provide a holding, non-shaming space where my interest is in building both your confidence and your competence. I particularly enjoy bringing supervisees on from those first wobbly footsteps into client work to a satisfying, thriving practice in which you find your meaning and joy alongside helping your clients to find theirs!

I qualified with a Diploma in Supervision from The Gestalt Centre in 2015 and work from a Humanistic frame, with a predominantly Gestalt focus. I have taught on both the Gestalt and Humanistic courses at Metanoia Institute and am familiar with their specific training requirements.

I am an approved supervisor for Metanoia Institute and as a qualified, UKCP registered supervisor and trainer, am competent to supervise practitioners qualifying at any level up to level 7. If you are keen to develop or deepen your practice with a specific focus on relational psychotherapy, I would be pleased to hear from you.

At this time I am willing to supervise work with adolescents aged 14+ but I do not currently supervise people working with children or younger teenagers.
